Komatsu
Biography
Eindhoven Stoner/sludge formation KOMATSU got noticed, both in their homeland as abroad during 2013. Among other things, the hard working band gave a successful performance at the Speedfest festival (Eindhoven, Holland), where they were joined on stage with non other than John Garcia (Vista chino, ex-Kyuss, Hermano, Slo Burn, etc.) to perform the Slo Burn cover song ‘July’. In addition the band released a split-EP with the English rockband Desert Storm and played several successful shows and tours in Europe. After the raving reviews of their debut album ‘Manu Armata’, this album will now be released in England, via Blindsight Records.
After releasing their first self titled EP ‘KOMATSU’ in 2011, the band hit the studios at the end of 2012 to record what is to become their first full-length album: ‘Manu Armata’.
Non other than producer Theo van Rock, who has worked with major bands like Tool, Rollins band, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ween, helps them during recordings. They manage to capture the heavy and thrusting distinctive sound KOMATSU is known for while maintaining an accessible and open feel. On ‘Manu Armata’ you’ll hear eleven songs with powerful and filthy stoner guitar-riffs, raw vocals, crushing drums and uncompromising (instrumental) tracks with sound-samples. Suburban Records releases the cd for ‘Manu Armata’ and the brand new record label Lighttown Fidelity, releases the album with beautiful artwork on vinyl.
The international press gets excited. Several renowned music-magazines reward the album with high ratings (Aardschok 82/100, Rocktribune 88/100, Powermetal 85/100, Up Magazine 92/100, Lust for Life magazine and Eindhovens Dagblad (local newspaper) give 4 out of 5 stars). They rate Komatsu to the top of the Dutch heavy rock scene.
